The brief
Elliot Payne rallies a Ford Fiesta Rally2 with co-driver P. Walsh on gravel and forest stages around the UK. Each new sponsor needs a new look, and we have designed and wrapped the cars through three of them: Mango Go!, Amigos tequila and Hooch.
A rally livery is seen for a second at a time, through dust, from a spectator bank. So each one is built from a few big shapes in the sponsor’s colours and a name you can read at speed: Mango Go! in yellow and green with its fruit on the doors, Amigos in the green, white and red of the Mexican flag with a stripe over the bonnet, and Hooch in black with yellow lemons scattered over the whole car.
Around the main design, every car carries the screen banner, the tyre, oil and series logos, and the crew’s names on the rear side windows. Clear panels are left on the doors for the competition numbers and the event plates, which change from rally to rally.
Before anything was printed, each livery was drawn up on the car from the front, both sides and the back, so the design could be checked panel by panel and signed off.
Drawn before it’s made.
Every job starts with a visual and drawings for the client to approve. Production starts once the proof is signed off.
